Covid-19 (Corona Virus) Facts

  • COVID-19 is still affecting mostly people in China with some outbreaks in other countries.

  • To date still 96% of all cases are occurring in China with the majority in the Hubei Province

  • Most people who become infected experience mild illness and recover.  More rarely the disease can be fatal, those vulnerable are older people with pre-existing conditions

  • WHO advises only to wear a mask if you are caring for or linked to someone with the symptoms.  The rational use of medical masks is to avoid unnecessary wastage of these resources or effective misuse of masks.

  • The most effective way to protect yourself and others are to frequently clean your hands, cover your cough with the bend of an elbow or tissue and maintain a distance of 1 metre from people who are coughing or sneezing

  • It is important that countries act quickly if confirmed cases occur.
